UK SIGHTINGS: Wild beast spotted near supermarket

Hinckley resident Chris Simpson, 63, was shocked when he saw the animal after doing his weekly shop

A huge cat has been spotted prowling around fields near to Aldi.

The beast, which was described as 6ft long with jet black fur, was seen hunting for food in the fields at 3.15pm on Monday.

Hinckley resident Chris Simpson, 63, was shocked when he saw the animal after doing his weekly shop at the supermarket on the A5.

He said: “I was in the car park and I saw the cat hunting along the hedgerows at the back of the industrial estate.

“I was about 500 yards away from it.

“It had a slinky walk with a long tail that was at least 3ft.”

Chris said the feline was far too big to be a normal house cat and he said it was definitely not a Labrador. He thinks it may have made its way to Hinckley from Tamworth, where there have been other sightings of big cats in recent months.

He added: “I know people will be sceptical and say that I’ve been drinking but I don’t drink and drive.

“It was at least 30 times the size of a normal cat. It was just prowling like cats prowl - exactly like that but bigger.

“It was similar to a panther.
