Two leopards fought like the proverbial Kilkenny cats in Pangidi forest beat of Atmakuru-Nallamala tiger reserve leading to the death of the male during the past 24 hours.
The other big cat got injured in the incident. The incident took place at a stone’s throw away distance from the base camp at Pangidi.
The place of the incident is just 100 meters away from the Velugodu reservoir. Forest trackers found carcass of a six-year-old leopard near a thorny bush

The hunt for British Big Cats attracts far more newspaper column-inches than any other cryptozoological subject. There are so many of them now that we feel that they should be archived by us in some way, so we should have a go at publishing a regular round-up of the stories as they come in. NEWSLINK: Trump’s border wall poses ecological threats
Donald Trump’s proposed wall along the U.S. border with Mexico threatens many kinds of life, from humans to endangered species.
Trump announced his administration’s plan to build a barrier on the southern U.S. border on Jan. 25, pursuing an oft-repeated campaign promise. He proposes to build a “contiguous, physical wall” — considered the most expensive way to secure a border — and he repeatedly has said Mexico will pay for the wall, which Mexico vehemently denies.
Construction would involve building over tribal land, in national parks and forests and on private property, as well as on rough, rugged terrain.

NEWSLINK: ‘Obese’ Siberian tigers in China zoo raise health concerns
Photos that went viral of tubby Siberian tigers at a Chinese zoo have sparked concern among animal welfare organisations after state media said it was “natural” for the animals to pile on the weight for winter.
Images of a group of the obese-looking Siberian tigers lolling around in the state-run Siberian Tiger Park in Harbin, Heilongjiang province, went viral online recently with many social media users joking that the caged cats had, like them, been too well fed over the Lunar New Year holiday.

SIGHTINGS, U.S.A: Multiple Mountain Lion Sightings Put University on Watch
Recent mountain lion sightings at Pepperdine University have prompted the school’s Public Safety Department to issue a warning asking people on the campus to not “hike or jog alone.” Even biking alone is being discouraged since what had been a rarity at the campus is now becoming much more frequent.
As recently as Feb. 1, there were two sightings (although reported by Pepperdine Emergency Information as unconfirmed) — one at 10:50 p.m. near the Student Health Center and another soon after at 11:25 p.m. on the hillside above Upper Dorm Road. However, since Dec. 18, there have been nine confirmed sightings of the big cats. All of the mountain lion sightings have been after dark. The wild animals are most active between dusk and dawn.
