SIGHTING: Is it a big cat... or a big hoax?

Another unusual sight in Linslade has reignited the controversial debate that a big cat is still roaming the area.

The remains of a deer were found up a tree on a horizontal branch that was about four feet from the ground beside the ‘old railway track’ south of the canal bridge across to Linslade.
The deer skeleton was originally discovered by Jessica Mark, 31, of North Street, Leighton, who said: “My partner and myself were out for a walk along the pathway when he noticed a strange smell so we backtracked a few steps, followed our noses, and there it was, the back half of a deer in a tree.”

SIGHTING: FAMILY FEAR MYSTERY ANIMAL KILLED THEIR CALVES

A farming family fear a large animal ate two of their young calves alive after a gruesome
incident on their Co Donegal farm.

The blooded remains of the one year old calves were found half-eaten on the farm outside Convoy, near Raphoe, yesterday morning.

The one year old animals, which would have been a considerable size, had a number of their ribs broken.

The family at the centre of the attack and animal welfare officers are baffled as to who or what killed the animals.

The attack will again raise suspicions that a large wild cat is still roaming the north-west after sighting in recent years.

SIGHTING: Dorset's big cat riddle

SIGHTINGS of mysterious big cats in Dorset have sparked intense debate in recent years.
Many are convinced that here are panthers roaming the countryside while others maintain that with no conclusive proof of their existence that it is highly unlikely they exist in the wild.
There have, however, been numerous reported sightings in recent years.

Imphal,September 12, 2012: With report of a pig being dragged away and eaten up by a wild animal believed to be a Tiger on the night of September 10, many of the scared villagers of Khordak Mayai Leikai under Bishnupur district have reportedly fled for safer places.

Informing this to Hueiyen Lanpao, one Haisnam Ibomcha, a villager of Khordak Mayai Leikai, said that a pig which was reared by one Heisnam Nganthoi, s/o H Mahindra of Khordak Mayai Leikai, was found eaten up by a wild animal on the night of September 10.The carcass of the pig which was around 20 kg in weight was found the next morning at a distance of about 20 feet from the pigsty.

SIGHTING: Oakham Couple spot panther like cat in woods

Yet another Big Cat sighting in the area;  this time it was at Wakerley Woods on the Rutland – Northamptonshire border.

Last Friday, (August 31), an Oakham soldier and his wife spotted what they believed to be a large cat prowling through the undergrowth at Wakerley woods near Corby.

200kg cat to be couriered across TasmanAuckland Zoo’s male lion Lazarus, who has fathered six offspring since his arrival in 2003, is today being air-freighted across the Tasman to start a new life at Taronga Western Plains Zoo in Dubbo, New South Wales. The move, part of an Australasian regional breeding programme for this big cat species, paves the way for Auckland Zoo’s other male lion, Ngala, to step up and lead the pride of three females, and hopefully breed. Lazarus, who weighs 200kg, will travel in a special custom-built steel crate on a Tasman Cargo Airlines Boeing 757 freighter aircraft that will also be carrying express parcels, boutique clothing, fresh fish and other food products. Horses – frequent flyers on this aircraft, have been rescheduled to fly on a different day this week to give this big cat priority passage.

SIGHTING: Big cat on loose in NY Hamptons

A BIG cat has been spotted on the loose near New York's swanky holiday destination The Hamptons.The New York Post reports the State Department of Environmental Conservation officials as saying they'd received several calls around a farm near the Spring Close Highway in East Hampton on Monday.

The reports were of a "a greyish cat-like creature about five-feet long, two-feet high at the shoulder with a long striped tail eating composting vegetables and meat scraps," DEC spokesman Bill Fonda told online news outfit Patch.com.

East Hampton Police were called to a farm on Spring Close Road around noon Sunday after a resident claimed to have spotted a large panther-like creature, according to Bill Fonda, a spokesperson for the New York State Department of Environmental Conservation's Long Island office.

SIGHTING: Mystery of capital’s big cat sighting 10/09/2012

POLICE teams searching for a vulnerable mum were stunned when they spotted a BIG CAT.

 

The unit had been drafted in by cops in Edinburgh after a two-day-old baby was found abandoned in the street.

Officers were desperate to find the tot’s mother, and Sgt Nicholas Whyte’s helicopter team was asked to check out Arthur’s Seat with infra-red camera gear.

He said: “We started our search and found a large heat source lying on the ground.
“I directed a police woman towards it, and as I was doing this the heat source got up and it was a large cat.
“It was not your standard domestic cat or small moggy but more like a puma.
“We told the officer to stay exactly where she was and the cat bounded off, never to be seen again. It was one of the most astonishing things I have ever seen on our cameras.”

Could this video footage provide evidence that big cats really are roaming the Shropshire countryside?

Farmer Shirley Lewis, from Tiphouse Farm near Billingsley, shot four minutes of remarkable video of a big cat near her home.

The footage appears to show a panther walking through fields, before disappearing behind trees.
The cat made several visits to the house, forcing Shirley and her husband Steve to fear it could be worrying livestock of even their children.
