Las Vegas, NV (KTNV) -- There was a real scare for a northwest neighborhood on Wednesday. An exotic hybrid cat escaped from its owner's home, and found its way into a neighbor's backyard.
The owner said this was the first time in seven years her big cat has escaped, but the incident left a next door neighbor shaken and one chicken missing.
"I knew right away this was not a typical cat. This was a large cat," said Audrey Patterson.
At 9 a.m., Patterson looked in her backyard and snapped a photo of a cat on a roof next door and immediately called 911.
"I was so concerned for my safety as well as the safety of my chickens and the dog."
She recently moved to her home, but wasn't aware that a wild cat lived right behind her. So she built a chicken coop, "One was missing, unfortunately. Heartbroken over it."
Animal control conducted a search of nearby homes.
"I would hate anything happen to a child. My concern is the kids. Animals can be replaced but kids can't," said Lynn Martinez, neighbor.
But the cat eventually came back on its own. Animal control went to the backyard and as they were trying to load the cat into their vehicle, the cat escaped again.read more
