PANAJI: Safety aspects for visitors to Bondla zoo appear to be adequate, but prompted by a fatal incident at Delhi zoo, officials have decided to hold a review and check the systems afresh.

A white tiger killed a youth after he toppled over in the big cat's moat at Delhi zoo on Tuesday. The accident evoked horror and has also raised concerns about safety in zoos.

The small zoo at Bondla, which started as a mini zoo in the seventies, has a couple each of tigers and sloth bear, five leopards, a few bison and some snakes, among other animals, which necessitates tight safety measures to prevent harm to visitors, staff and animals.
