Big
cat mystery as puma-like beast 'the size of an Alsatian' is spotted in
British countryside
A
mysterious big cat the size of a large dog has been spotted in the
British countryside, reigniting the local legend of the 'Huttock Top
Beast'.
Where to start...?
ReplyDeleteThe tracks are the first port of call. Looking at those, the dog that made them was somewhere between a biggish terrier and a smallish collie; these are unmistakably dog prints.
The area behind the Nutters Restaurant is criss-crossed with rights of way and is likely doggie-walked all the time, but is frankly rather poor slightly improved moorland. There isn't a substantial deer population, and the rabbit population suffers from periodic myxy epidemics, plus the depredations of anyone who fancies a spot of ferreting, shooting or casual coursing.
At a rough guess, this one was/is a misidentified domestic cat.
