A picture's worth a thousand words, the old adage goes, and this
picture doesn't disappoint: A Florida photographer captures the food
chain in action.
Photographer John Bailey was taking an evening stroll through
Sebastian Inlet State Park in Vero Beach Monday when he spotted a
bobcat on the beach, staring into the water. It was apparently
watching a shark in the shallows feeding on smaller fish.
The cat continued watching nature at work when all of a sudden it
leapt into the water onto the shark, estimated to be about four feet
in length, and dragged its catch onto the beach.
The photo he took appears to show the determined cat hauling its prey
by the tail into the sand.
Bailey says he might have gotten too close while taking the picture
because the cat abruptly dropped its snack and took off into the
nearby forest.
